Artist's Statement:
 " My painting is nonrepresentational, with no object as a basis. It is pure abstract expressionism, my manner of giving color and shape to things unseen: shifting moods and the emotions of relationships, as well as the sounds and rhythms of life. I pay attention to daily instinct and intuition that springs from optimism or doubt, beginnings or endings, naivete or wisdom, and all the hope and yearning and complexity that make up life on Earth. What a ride!

The act of painting puts me into a giant dunking machine of uncertainty, doubt, mystery and wonder. It is that spirit of
invention, intuition and chance that defines and guides my
creativity. Plus, color speaks to me.

 Ever since styles of abstract art emerged early in the last century, many ways to express emotional content in painting have been explored. I paint fields of color, line and form that speak the visual language of our culture. This has nothing to do with a conventionally rational message. As you "read" my artwork you may be attracted to a combination of colors, a patch of shapes or the movement of my composition. Continue looking. You will start to wonder, "Why do I like that pulsing vibrant shape of purple-blue nestled against that red curve?" You may revel in your own associations. Next, and most important, enjoy it; you probably won't be able to put it into words.
